Last week I was sick and did not attend Tiger Scouts but this week I was back and we are still working on knot-tying. The bowline was the knot of the day! Teaching knots to non-native English speakers is a good exercise for any Scout! It makes you rethink in your own head how you tie each knot so you can simplify the steps and the vocabulary used to describe them. It helps you to perfect your own knot-craft!

YAY!!!
Michelle, check out "Animated Knots by Grog" best site to help kids with knots, it brings the rope to life so they can see how it works!!!
ReplyDeletewe have some of the kids tying reef and bowline behind their backs now. The old bunny story helps to, but may not be totally understandable by your kids just yet!!! Should have your parcel packaged up in the next few days and will let you know when I mail it. All the Cubs here say "HI" Scouter Michelle!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather! I love that site, but it is hard to use the internet at the school. The kids meet in the gym but it has no wifi and neither does my classroom. Maybe we will try to book into the hightech room after exams for something to do. We have about a week to do fun things before we get the textbooks for the final term!
ReplyDeleteThe bunny story helped me and I thought about telling the kids but then I realized they still don't quite get left and right so that might be a stretch.
Hello Cub Scouts!!!
